| The Staffordshire figure " The Old Maid" is one of a pair, the other also listed. the figure is 9" and shows a woman seated at a table with a cat in her arm. On the table is a teapot and a loaf of bread. In her hand she holds a teacup. There is a bird seated on the back of the chair colorfully painted in blue, orange and white. Orange is the color of the back of the chair as well as the trim on the womans apron. the table is covered with a pink cloth and green ruffle. Very colorful and famous figure shown on page 295 of Hardings Staffordshire book. The condition is excellent and this figure is highly collectable and dates C 1860. | ||
