A woolwork picture depicting a bird on a flowering branch, unsigned, early 19th century. Set in a lovely gilt frame the picture measures 26 1/2" by 20 1/2. there is some slight staining to the picture but nothing to detract from the interest. It is done in neutral tones with the bird and flowers showing color. the work is excellent. Berlin woolwork pictures such as this were made in large numbers in the 19th century. Subjects vary enormously and can affect the price. Pictures of birds and dogs are always popular and can cost between $800 and $1,500. |
