A 19th Century Whimsie, Nailsea Pipe
A 19th Century Nailsea pipe with twist white threads design and a blue rim with a triple bulb stem. The pipe is 13" and perfect.

Nailsea glass is characterized by swirls and loopings, usually on a clear ground. This glass was first made in Nailsea England in 1788-1883. I love these whimsies, they were usually made during lunch or after regular work was done. The glassworkers would relax by spending time creating unusual glass objects, colorful canes, darners, hats, paperweights and pipes. Whimsies were usually given to family and friends, and they are highly collectable and sought after.
