A 19th Century Whimsey Nailsea Pipe
A 19th Century Nailsea pipe with an applied opaque rim to the bowl. the pipe is of speckled pink and blue, what some people call end of day glass. There is a triple bulbed stem. the pipe is 15" and absolutely perfect.

Nailsea glass is characterized by swirls and loopings, usually on a clear ground. This glass was first made in Nailsea England in 1788-1883.

I love these whimsies, they were usually made during lunch or after regular work was done. The glassworkers would relax by spending time creating unusual glass objects, colorful canes, darners, hats, paperweights and pipes. Whimsies were usually given to family and friends. these are very collectable and sought after.
