Fourteen Piece Antique Porcelain Dessert Service
One of the most beautiful antique botanical dessert sets I have had, fourteen pieces, probably Rockingham C 1840. Set on a white porcelain ground is a flower, each taken from hand colored botanical drawings of the period and hand painted onto the plate. Surrounding that is a border with gilt acanthus moulding to the rim in a silver style and shape, in a beautiful shade of puce, and a reticulated design highlighted with gilt. The plates measure 9 1/2". There are 8 of these, four others of the same size have a coordinating border and scroll like design, again in puce and with reticulated borders. Bouquets form the center design of lovely soft colors.

There are two service pieces oval and with moulded handles on stand also in the same coloration and design, they measure 10 1/2" and 13". This is without a doubt one of the most beautifully colored sets i have ever had.

Rockingham traditionally made their porcelain pieces in standard silver shapes of the period.

The Rockingham factory was located in Yorkshire and they made pottery from 1745 until 1842.
