One of the best overviews of the subject with chapters on Fakes, What is available in your price range?, China, Japan, Italy France and other European porcelain. Lots of English porcelain and a wonderful chapter on The Best In the World. Marks and Dating , chinese dynasties and Periods. Just the best.
Collector's guide to american Pressed Glass 1825-1925,by Kyle Husfloen, Wallace-Homestead Book co., Radnor, Pa. 1992. Paperbound and in excellent condition some of the chapters cover Lacy glass, forms and styles, color, commerative, novelty and souvenir glass. Collectors associations and permanent collections of pressed glass and more.
Illustrated Guide to Jewelry Appraising by Anna Miller,Gemstone Press, Woodstock, Vt.1999. 2nd. Edition. this is an excellent reference book, which covers Antique Period and Modern Jewelry. A very good read and a must for the collector. this one has a chapter on Watches and one on reproduction jewelry. It has lots of pictures and is a very good overall guide.
The Encyclopedia of Furniture by Joseph Aronson, Crown Publishers, NY 1965. Still one of the best references around and a classic. Lots of descriptions but what makes this one unique is the pictures that illustrate what the author is talking about. If I had to choose one general furniture reference for all styles and periods this would be the one.
Collecting rhinestone and Colored Stone Jewelry, An Identification and Value guide, by Maryanne Dolan, Books America, 1993 Third Edition and Value guide. This is an excellent reference for rhinestone jewelry and values. Lots of information not found in other books. There is a very large section on designers marks.
Gems and Jewelry Appraising Techniques of Professional Practice, by Anna Miller,Chapman Hall, Great Britain 1988. Historical and technical techniques for appraising. Not necessarily for the professional. Its a good book for the collector and should keep you out of trouble.
