This set of French hand painted porcelain plates is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Colorful and gilded with scalloped rims and raised gilded decoration for accent. Colorfully painted birds, phesants, are rendered in shades of deep pink, rust browns, yellow, blue, green, all set on a white ground. The background is a landscape design and each plate is unique with its subject in its own colorful pose. These plates are 9", there is an impressed mark at the bottom but I cannot make it out. I am consertavely dating them C 1900 and the plates are perfect without chips or scratches. These are really sensational and just in time for your Holiday table or to decorate a Dining Room Wall.

This is a wonderful Creil mocha creamware mug in a seaweed decoration. the decoration is brown and looks wonderful against the warmth of the creamware. The Creil factory was founded about 1784 for the manufacture of English style earthenware. It was the first French pottery to use transfer printing . Porcelain was never made there, only pottery. Marks are either stamped in the paste as in this mug or were stenciled. This Creil mocha mug is 2 3/4" tall and 2 1/2" wide. There is a flake to the rim as I show in the pictures. Otherwise the decoration is clear and very nice. This little mocha mug dates about 1810 and is a real treat. Some of the pictures are dark, the lighter ones are more the real color.
