A beautifully painted French porcelain cachepot Samson C 1850. although the cachepot has the meissen crossed swords mark with a number at the bottom, it is Samson. Standing 4 4/4" tall and almost 5" across, the cache pot has a white ground highlited with gilt decoration. A lush bouquet hand painted in shades of pink and sepia is at the front while the reverse shows another bouquet in multicolors. It is very well done. There are two lions heads at the sides for added decoration.

Samson made copies of porcelains from famous manufacturers, and most of the items they copied were originally made only in soft paste. It was common to use the marks of the famous factories when decorating these wares. Samson is highly collectable and in demand today for the quality of their decoration.
