A beautiful early 19th century polychrome creamware teapot, probably Leeds 1800 or earlier. Globular form with a flowered terminal at the top the teapot stands 5". The handle is the highly desirable double twist so popularized by Towner in his book Creamware. Decorated in polychrome in the Kings Rose and with columbine and larkspur on deep cream ground. The finial at the top is not painted but remains in the cream ground. the condition is excellent.

Creamware is the direct descendent of the lead glazed wares of the Middle Ages and was the main product in England between 1760 and 1820 and was exported to every country on the continent. I love the warmth of it and the feel is like nothing else.

Beautiful and delicate is this coalport standish C 1830. A four footed tray on which beautiful bouquets of English Country Garden flowers are painted holds an inkwell, pot and center piece. All the pieces are decorated with raised flowers and gilt decoration, in fact the standish is surrounded by flowers on stems in relief. The inkwell has its matching top, the pot its insert and top and the centerpiece is matching. The condition of this standish and pieces is excellent. All of it is gilt decorated and the gilt and paint show no wear or chipping.

An interesting thing appears on the bottom of the tray, the name in light blue script E Dule. I think this is the name of the person who commissioned it or who received it as a gift. These are rare in this condition and age. The standish is 9" long.
