A fine pair of Chelsea figures C 1770-90 bearing the gold anchor mark. Standing 6" tall they show a nobleman and woman in 18th Century dress and each holding a basket of fruit. Each is wearing a hat and true to the Chelsea potters they could almost be French courtiers at Versailles. The figures are seated on scroll gilt highlited bases which are profusely decorated with flowers. A soft palatte is used, however the figures are ornately decorated in keeping with the period. Clearly a matched pair and highly glazed the gold mark is on the back of each of the figures. The condition is excellent with no damage or chips.

Backed with its own stand it is a perfect vanity mirror, and could be fitted easily to be hung. Starting at thebottom center there is a very protty blue bow and cabbage roses above it. The mirror is decorated in tones of blue and white and the garlands of roses go up the sides from the center. The top at the center is decorated with two cherubs, with touches of yellow in their hair and on their wings. Each is holding a garland of flowers which sets off the center very nicely. A pair of Old Paris Botanical cabinet plates C1870. Nine inches and perfect these plates are decorated with a bouquet of English Country Garden flowers hand painted and set to the center on a white ground. Syuttacat@hotmail.comurrounding the bouquet is what I like to call Old paris pink, that shade unique to 19th century Old Paris and so pretty. A 2" border surrounds the center decoration and there is raised white scroll like decoration on the pink border. Gilt decoration is also used to highlight the plates. The condition is excellent, though there is some dulling to the gilt decoration. Beautiful plates and a wonderful addition to your collection.

A Creamware polychrome decorated child's plate C 1820. Set to the center is a charming green transfer of a parlor scene with an adult and children. Dressed in 18th Century costume the boy is holding a walking stick and placing a hat on the head of a little girl obviously younger. Around the edges of the plate are raised flowers painted in reds and blues with green leaf decoration. The plate is 5" and the condition is excellent.
These plates were made to be given as gifts to children and they were often decorated by children. They were an upmarket item, sold at upscale shops and at fairs around the country. They were used as teaching aids, or simply decorated to amuse. Very desirable and collectable today.
