A beautifully painted French porcelain cachepot Samson C 1850. although the cachepot has the meissen crossed swords mark with a number at the bottom, it is Samson. Standing 4 4/4" tall and almost 5" across, the cache pot has a white ground highlited with gilt decoration. A lush bouquet hand painted in shades of pink and sepia is at the front while the reverse shows another bouquet in multicolors. It is very well done. There are two lions heads at the sides for added decoration.Samson made copies of porcelains from famous manufacturers, and most of the items they copied were originally made only in soft paste. It was common to use the marks of the famous factories when decorating these wares. Samson is highly collectable and in demand today for the quality of their decoration.

What a delightful treasure this is. Standing 6 1/2" high and 8 1/4" from handle to spout, is a peuter topped teapot. the top has a finial decoration and the body is decorated in a tortoiseshell glazed Whieldon type decoration with shadings in brown. Teapots like this were made in the 19th century and are extremely rare. This pattern was achieved by using a combination of transfer printed stippling and hand painting which gives it this 18th century effect. The peuter lid is an unusual feature on lustreware as is the sheer metallic sheen.Set to the center of the teapot is a cartouche with a verse that says Happy May You Be And Long May You Live To Drink Out of Me" The teapot is in excellent condition however there is a hairline that shows in the cartouche, Happy May You Be. This doesn't bother me, and shouldn't bother you. This teapot is a collectors treasure. The transfer on the reverse says" Those Who Love Good Tea Must Please Remember Me Be Sure To Allow The Water To Boil Then The Tea You Will Not Spoil" This teapot will appeal to the sophisticated collector of teapots, lustre, and transfer decorated ceramics. This one won't last.

A beautiful early 19th century polychrome creamware teapot, probably Leeds 1800 or earlier. Globular form with a flowered terminal at the top the teapot stands 5". The handle is the highly desirable double twist so popularized by Towner in his book Creamware. Decorated in polychrome in the Kings Rose and with columbine and larkspur on deep cream ground. The finial at the top is not painted but remains in the cream ground. the condition is excellent. Creamware is the direct descendent of the lead glazed wares of the Middle Ages and was the main product in England between 1760 and 1820 and was exported to every country on the continent. I love the warmth of it and the feel is like nothing else.
