This beautiful piece of early English pottery, a pearl ware reticulated basket & matching stand is blue and white. The workmanship & detail is outstanding, each base has a woven effect & the basket is very intricate. Made in Staffordshire c1790-1810. This charming set has come from a private collection & still has the label on the base “From Mrs HILL 44 Albert Gate London S.W” This would make a great addition to your collection. No Reserve! After Louis Wain's first drawing titled A Kittens Christmas Party appeared in the Illustrated London News in 1886 the popularity of his drawings grew. Victorian england couldn't get enough. Allerton created this series of children's plates after the drawings shown in that first illustration. The plate has a brown transfer is 7" and has a flea bite at 10 and 2 o'clock.

An Allerton Victorian plate showing a brown transfer of a cat riding on a poodle's back. There is a ball on the floor and the cat is sitting arms akimbo. These transfers are from the drawings of Louis Wain and this is a highly collectable series. One little flea bite at 10 o'clock.

Another charming plate from the Louis Wain series done by Allerton C 1890. Allerton made pottery at Longton from 1859-1942. This ware was seldom marked and none of the plates in this series are marked. This plate has 2 small bites at the edge but nothing to mar the transfer.

Part of the series Allerton did inspired by the drawings of Louis Wain around 1890, this 7" plate shows a cat ready to grab fish swimming in a bowl. The look on his face is clear, there are books behind him and a flower on the table. Brown transfer and the plate is perfect.

A 19th century white pottery child's plate with a brown transfer showing three cats, one in a basket, one with a ribbon at her neck and another looking on. They are an obvious cat family and have the human expressions made so popular by Louis Wain. The series of his drawings was done by Allerton around 1890 and are highly collectable today.
